The Supreme Being
Most animistic religions share the belief that
there exists one Supreme Being, often described as being an all-knowing and
all-powerful creator. This Being does not communicate directly with humans,
instead leaving mankind to appease and worship lesser gods who control
particular parts of the environment and world.
Animistic Beliefs |
Lesser GodsAs there are no definite gods described for all animistic religions, and the fact that there are many varying interpretations of the Supreme Being, these religions worship unique deities and spirits that represent something to them. For example, an animistic religion worship the spirit or god of a particular physical feature of their area (e.g. a mountain or lake), but they will not have a single god for all examples of the feature; each individual site will have its own spirit. This incorporates the main concept of animism; faith in the individual souls of all things, and physical indicators of these souls.
